Preparing the Strategic Master Plan of Zeeland Seaports (2008)
Zeeland Seaports (ZSP) operates the sea ports of Vlissingen and Terneuzen in the Dutch province of Zeeland. In both of these ports, the company is responsible for developing sites and quay facilities, and issuing them to port industries. ZSP manages an area of 44 square kilometres, accommodating over 250 businesses. In 2009 a total of 28.8 million tonnes of seaborne cargo passed through these ports.
In 2007 Bridgecraft was commissioned to help ZSP formulate its business strategy. A plan was needed that would define and detail all the ambitions of these ports for the next decade. Its core themes included:
- development of new port sites to meet the strong demand from the stevedoring sector
- development of the container sector in the two ports, both by attracting specialist operators and by developing suitable sites
- optimising rail and inland shipping access to both ports.
In 2008 the plan, which was named Strategic Master Plan 2010 - 2020, was formally approved by the ZSP management and its stakeholders
